Porcupine at

What could be more fun than drawing at Christmas?

This year over the holidays you can have a little bit of creative fun and  win one of 12 porcupine plush toys.

All you have to do is draw one, some,  or all of the characters from A Porcupine in a Pine Tree.  I will award a porcupine plush to the best drawing of each of the characters from the book.

Prizes will be awarded on the 12th day, January 6th with 12 special porcupine heading out in the mail shortly after.

If you think you need some help, or want to see how I do it, you can see my drawing videos from last year on my YouTube channel

I’ll be looking for age appropriate skill and style as well as creativity.  You’re neither to young or too old.

The contest is open to all ages and skill levels.  So whether you’ve never drew before or a professional, it’s open to you.

Happy Drawing Everyone!

hockey-print

I’m pleased to share that this year the Woman’s Auxiliary at Sick Kids in Toronto asked to use my hockey scene from Snow Day as their fund raising card.

Out of 35,000 printed only 1500 remain unsold at last word.

I’m pleased how beautifully they turned out and if you want yours (I bought 50 for myself) you may still be able at to get yours if you hurry at Sick Kids Christmas Card

I was also pleased that Scholastic granted  e-rights to a company who wished to send them by email in return for a donation to Sick Kids.

It’s a great feeling to know you can help such a valuable and important institution as Sick Kids!

Olde-fashion1

I will be in Thornbury  taking part in their annual Olde Fashion Christmas once again.

Come join me to have a silly sing of Helaine Becker’s and my crazy rework of an old Christmas classic.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of  Jessica’s Book Nook and along with  L.E. Shore Memorial Library and the Thornbury BIA  they are delighted to host me again for another interactive program of story and song.

The program is for children of all ages, but they ask that children under the age of eight be accompanied by an adult.

here is no cost, but seating is limited and tickets must be picked up in advance at Jessica’s Book Nook 21 Bruce Street South 519-599-7361.

I hope to see you there!

Wishing all of you Goblins, Demons and other candy seekers a wonderful scary but safe Halloween!  This year we just got back from a trip to Paris yesterday and since I teach all day and will be home late, we’ll be missing all the trick or treaters, but promise the return of a very very very scary Halloween next year! We promise!

on our way

Hello St. Albert!  I’m off to visit schools and libraries in St. Albert, Alberta this week and very excited to be going.  Tuesday to Friday will be filled with sharing my work and books, along with drawing dragons and a fun filled evening at the Library.  Friday morning it will be my pleasure to say thanks to the great folks at the St. Albert Rotary for sponsoring these next few days!  My pots are packed, lots of original artwork in my portfolio, and as soon as Cocky Locky’s legs are glued, my birds will be in their box for another trip across the country.  If it’s one of your schools I will be visiting, get ready for an hour of fun (and of course…learning).  No test at the end, just the hope that you will be inspired to read, draw and use your imagination to be as creative as you possibly can.  See you soon!
